modern art

Where was Cezanne from and what did he like to paint a lot from this area, give its name and find a painting of one example. He was born in the south of France. He painted a mountain called Mont Sainte-Victoire is one of his many paintings of the area around his home, showing cube-like houses and bulky, round trees.
Why do you think that Cezanne is so important in art history? Be descriptive and thoughtful like an art historian.
I think he was very imporyant to art history because he was believed to have started modern art. He had a unique method with using color and his approach to nature influenced the art of Cubism.

Often called the Father of Modern Art, Cézanne continually developed as an artist. He limited his contact with fellow artists (notably the Impressionists) in order to pursue his own studies of form and color and developed a marvelous, unique style of painting. His preferred subject matter was either still life or landscape (which lent themselves more easily to color studies), although he occasionally rendered humans.(About.com)
