Up load saturn devouring his son.
"Perhaps the best known of the Black Paintings is Saturn Devouring His Son. The image portrays the Roman god Saturn eating one of his children. Fearing a prophecy that one of his children would overthrow him, Saturn ate each of his children upon their birth. Goya depicts this act of cannibalism with startling savagery"

What are the BLACK PAINTINGS?

"He had a first hand and acute awareness of panic, terror, fear and hysteria. He had survived two near-fatal illnesses, and grew increasingly anxious and impatient in fear of relapse. These factors combined are thought to have led to his production of 14 works known collectively as the Black Paintings.

Using oil paints and working directly onto the walls of his dining and sitting rooms, Goya created intense, haunting works with dark themes. The paintings were not commissioned and were not meant to leave his home; it is likely that the artist never intended the works for public exhibition: "...these paintings are as close to being hermetically private as any that have ever been produced in the history of Western art." Goya did not title the paintings, or if he did, he never revealed those titles; the names have been usually by provided art historians."(Wikipedia,The Black painting)

Two of Goya's best known paintings are The Nude Maja (La maja desnuda) and The Clothed Maja find them upload comment on each.

It looks almost the same as the picture blow except for some diferences which are she is wearing clothes which is the mane differnce between the pictures.Another is the backround it is almost commpetly black and the one blow spot lights Duchess of Alba. Another thing I have noticed is both pictures are in the same poshion, it looks like you chould put both painting together and the bodies would be alined.

I think this picture shows that Goya did have a romantic relationship with Duchess of Alba, "with whom Goya is thought to have had an affair, and the mistress of Manuel de Godoy, who subsequently owned the paintings. Neither theory has been verified, and it remains as likely that the paintings represent an idealized composite."(wikipedia,Goya)

"In the 1810s, Goya created a set of aquatint prints titled The Disasters of War which depict scenes from the Peninsular War. The scenes are singularly disturbing, sometimes macabre in their depiction of battlefield horror, and represent an outraged conscience in the face of death and destruction. The prints were not published until 1863, 35 years after Goya's death." Find as many images as you want and upload.

I think these four drawings are very macob and horrifing and down right scary. I think there was a good reason for the drawing not to be published untill after his death cause if the people of his time saw these they would have been out raged. As horried as these pictures are they are true to the events.

Give a breif bio. (include where she was born, what happened to her in her life that shaped her art, how she died, who was she married to) minimal citation!!!!Do not cut and paste in your own words

"Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907 in the house of her parents, known as La Casa Azul (The Blue House), in Coyoacán. At the time, this was a small town on the outskirts of Mexico City.On September 17, 1925, Kahlo was riding in a bus when the vehicle collided with a trolley car. She suffered serious injuries in the accident, including a broken spinal column, a broken collarbone, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, eleven fractures in her right leg, a crushed and dislocated right foot, and a dislocated shoulder. An iron handrail pierced her abdomen and her uterus, which seriously damaged her reproductive ability. She had thirty-five operations as a result of the accident."( wikipedia,Frida)After the accident,Frida turned her attention away from the pain and became a full-time painter. The accident left her in a great deal of pain while she recovered in a full body cast; she painted to keep her intertained.Although she recovered from her injuries and eventually regained her ability to walk, she was plagued by relapses of extreme pain for the remainder of her life. One day, she approached the painter, Diego Rivera, whose work she like alot, asking him for advice about continuing her art career. He recognized her talent. They began an intimate relationship with Frida. "They were married in 1929, despite the disapproval of Frida's mother.

Their marriage was often tumultuous. Kahlo and Rivera had fiery temperaments and had numerous extramarital affairs. Kahlo had affairs with both men and women, Rivera knew and tolerated her relationships with women, but her relationships with men made him jealous. For her part, Kahlo was furious when she learned that Rivera had an affair with her younger sister, Cristina. The couple eventually divorced, but remarried in 1940."(Wikipedia,frida)

The year before her death she had her left leg amputated at the knee, because of gangrene. The cause of death is pulmonary embolism, some say that it could of been an over dose it may or may not of been accidental. It has not been proven. After her death her husband said "The day Kahlo died was the most tragic day of my life,I have realized that the most wonderful part of my life had been my love for her.
